The Equivalency Committee is responsible for evaluating the course equivalencies of students coming from different higher education institutions under various statuses, such as horizontal transfer, vertical transfer (DGS), double major, minor, or special student status, and determining the appropriate course adjustments based on their previous studies.
Examine the applications for horizontal transfer, vertical transfer (DGS), double major, minor, and special student status in terms of compliance with the department’s curriculum and university regulations.
Evaluate the courses taken by the applicant at their previous institution in terms of content and credits, and compare them with the department’s curriculum to determine equivalency.
Prepare and submit the official equivalency table, which indicates which courses the students are exempt from and which courses they need to retake, for approval.
Ensure that all equivalency procedures are conducted in accordance with the regulations of YÖK, ÖSYM, and the university.
Support the process of assigning appropriate academic advisors to newly adjusted students and inform the advisors about the equivalency process.
Carefully review the applicant's previous academic transcripts, grading systems, and course contents.
Formalize the committee’s decisions by preparing meeting minutes, submitting them to the department council for approval, and ensuring the execution of official correspondence.
Officially inform students about which courses they are exempt from or which they need to retake as a result of the equivalency process.
