Purpose:
The Distance Education Coordinator is responsible for ensuring the smooth implementation of distance education courses within the department. This includes facilitating effective communication between faculty members and the University's Distance Education Application and Research Center (UZEM) and supporting student-faculty interaction.
Job Description and Responsibilities
Monitoring the Distance Education Process:
Ensure that all distance education courses conducted within the department are carried out on time and without issues, following the academic calendar, course descriptions, material upload dates, and exam schedules set by UZEM.
Technical Support for Faculty Members:
Provide guidance and technical support to faculty members on preparing course videos, uploading materials to the system, planning live sessions, and utilizing exam and assignment systems.
Establishing a Communication Bridge with UZEM:
Coordinate communication between the department and the University's UZEM unit, promptly sharing updates, instructions, and announcements with faculty members.
Material Control and Compliance:
Encourage the development of course materials (PDFs, videos, presentations, exercises) that are sufficient, up-to-date, and pedagogically appropriate for distance education.
Evaluation of Student Feedback:
Monitor and address technical or content-related issues reported by students, develop solutions, and communicate them to the relevant faculty members.
Planning and Monitoring Live Sessions:
Ensure that live classes are scheduled according to the weekly timetable and monitor aspects such as participation, recording, and duration using UZEM reports.
Examination and Assessment Practices:
Oversee midterm and final exams conducted online, and inform faculty members about best practices to ensure the security and fairness of the assessment process.
Data Collection and Reporting:
Collect data related to the implementation of distance education courses, including participation, success rates, and system usage, and present it to the department administration.
Crisis and Emergency Management:
Respond promptly to technical issues, system updates, or student access problems that may arise within the distance education system and manage the resolution process efficiently.
Continuous Improvement:
Develop suggestions for improving the quality of distance education and share these recommendations with faculty members.
