Purpose:
The Farabi Exchange Program is a national program that supports student and faculty exchange between higher education institutions within Turkey. The Farabi Coordinator is responsible for the efficient implementation of the program at the department level, including managing application processes and ensuring academic equivalence.
Job Description and Responsibilities
Management of the Application Process:
Receive applications from students wishing to participate in the Farabi exchange program, verify eligibility based on application criteria, and submit them to the department administration.
Student Selection and Guidance:
Select eligible candidates from the applicants based on academic performance and inform the Farabi Institutional Coordination Office.
Equivalent Course Planning:
Evaluate the compatibility of courses that outgoing students will take at the host institution with the department curriculum, participate in the preparation of the Learning Protocol, and manage the approval processes.
Academic Guidance for Incoming Students:
Support Farabi incoming students in the course selection process, ensure the assignment of an academic advisor, and monitor their academic progress.
Credit Transfer and Grade Conversion Processes:
Determine the equivalence of courses taken by students who complete the Farabi exchange, prepare grade conversion tables, and manage the adaptation processes.
Information and Promotion:
Organize annual informational meetings during the spring term to introduce the Farabi program to students, including the application process, quotas, and partner universities.
Interinstitutional Relations:
Facilitate communication with partner universities, and when needed, convey departmental opinions to the Farabi Institutional Coordination Office for developing new Farabi protocols.
Annual Reporting:
Regularly report numerical and academic data related to Farabi mobility activities at the department level to the Farabi Institutional Coordination Office.
Advisory Role:
Provide academic advising to students participating in Farabi, helping them resolve challenges encountered during the process.
Documentation and Archiving:
Systematically archive all documents related to the Farabi process, including learning protocols, grade records, and course equivalency decisions, at the department level.
